For macOS — free & open source

Your eyes deserve
a guardian.

One menu-bar app, three tools: a Pomodoro that enforces real breaks, a todo list that feeds the timer, and guided eye exercises the camera can verify — private, offline, free.

Pomodoro

A timer that guards the break

Focus like any pomodoro app — then Sharingan does the part the others skip: it makes the rest actually happen.

  • Focus, your length. 25/5/15 defaults, long break every N rounds, countdown or count-up.
  • Three pomodoro sizes. Small, Normal, Big — every task (even a subtask) can pick its own, each with its own long break.
  • Speaks your language. “5 min”, “2h 30m”, “5pm”, “+15m” — type it, the clock obeys.
  • Global hotkeys. ⌃⌥Space start/pause · ⌃⌥F skip · ⌃⌥R reset · ⌃⌥L Floating widget.
  • Unskippable breaks. Full-screen glass overlay on every monitor; ⌘Q, ⌘W and ⌘Tab stay blocked.
  • Focus enforcement. Hide or force-quit distracting apps the moment a break starts — pick any installed app from the built-in catalog.

Tasks

A todo list that feeds the timer

Tasks aren't a separate app — they're what your pomodoros burn through. Queue them up and every finished session advances to the next.

  • Everything a task needs. Priorities you can extend with your own levels, tags, projects, due dates, notes — and subtasks with their own flags, estimates and sizes.
  • Natural-language quick add. “tomorrow 15:00 p1 #work report” — or “ertaga 15:00 p1 #ish hisobot”, or “明天 15:00 p1 报告”. The world's 25 most-spoken languages, all live at once, parsed as you type.
  • Paste a whole plan. Markdown or JSON — even straight out of an AI chat — becomes tasks with subtasks. Duplicates get caught, not doubled.
  • Focus queue. Each finished pomodoro advances to the next task; the break screen shows what's coming.
  • Sort, filter, snooze, repeat. Order by priority, due date or A–Z; narrow to one tag, project or level; daily, weekdays or every-N-days recurrence.
  • Know where the time went. Every session credits its task — and subtask — into a day-paged Report, in the app and the menu-bar popover.
Try it live

The real parser, ported to the page. Type a task — press Enter to add it, click a task to complete it.

    Eye health

    Exercises your eyes actually do

Every break is a guided drill led by the animated eyes — and the camera (on-device, optional) checks you really did it.

    • Guided drills. 20-20-20, 8-direction gaze and blink bursts — the eyes on screen lead every step.
    • Pick your drill. Exercise chips at the top of every break — tap one and the eyes run it on demand.
    • Camera-verified. Vision face landmarks confirm your gaze and blinks happened; a retry signal if they didn't.
    • Voice guidance. Per-step TTS instructions with adjustable rate and pitch.
    • Private by design. Frames never leave your Mac; a pulsing badge whenever the camera is on.
    • Comfort extras. Screen dim, Night Shift warmth, rain/forest/lo-fi ambience, posture and water reminders.

    Fourteen more, all included

Beyond the big three — everything here ships in the free download, works offline, and needs no account.

    Automation

    Terminal-grade control

The tired CLI and a sharingan:// URL scheme drive the timer from Terminal, Shortcuts or Raycast.

    FAQ

    Questions, answered

    Is Sharingan free?

Yes. Sharingan is free and open source. There is no account, no subscription and no tracking.

Does camera data leave my Mac?

Never. Blink and gaze detection run entirely on-device with Apple's Vision framework. The camera is optional, and a pulsing badge is always shown while it is on.

    Which Macs does it support?

macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later, on Apple Silicon.

    Can I skip a break?

Yes — every break screen has a skip button. Want stricter rest? Enable app blocking so distracting apps hide or quit when a break starts.

    How do I install it?

Download Sharingan.dmg, open it and drag Sharingan to Applications. Releases are signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so it opens like any other app — no security warnings.

    Does it sync between Macs?

Yes — opt-in iCloud sync (off by default) keeps tasks, categories, tags, templates, focus statistics and settings in step between your Macs through your private iCloud database. Nothing is ever stored on the developer's servers.

    Rest your eyes.
    Keep your streak.
